Important financial information:

• Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of relocation costs.
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) range from $19,000 to $31,000, which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to initially staff this position on a permanent basis (28 hours/week) with a Beneficiary of the NLCA in support of this Agreement. This process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates in order to staff similar positions at Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and other Departments and Agencies who have positions in Nunavut. Linguistic profiles requirement as well as tenures and/or security clearance may vary according to the position being staffed.

A covering letter in 2,000 words (maximum) "In your cover letter, please clearly state if you are a Beneficary of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and your proficiency in the Inuktitut language. Candidates must also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet the education and experience factors listed in the essential qualifications as well as the asset experience listed (when applicable). Candidates must use the experience factors as a header and describe how they meet each experience required. Resumes may be used as a secondary source to validate the experience described in the cover letter."

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) in Environmental Technology, Natural Resource Technology, Natural Environment Technology, or another specialty related to the field of natural science.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience conducting environmental field studies in an Arctic environment
• Experience collecting and organizing field or lab data
• Experience preparing and planning trips on the land

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a field of the natural sciences directly related to the duties
• Experience working in a cross-cultural environment, specifically as it relates to Inuit culture and values
• Ability to communicate in Inuktitut
• Experience in the safe operation of firearms
