This process will initially be used to fill 1 position on a permanent basis.
The result of this selection process will be to create a pool of qualified candidates from which future permanent and/or temporary BI-04 vacancies at the Public Health Agency of Canada may be filled.

Your résumé.
Graduation with a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) by thesis from a recognized post-secondary institution, with specialization in a Biological Life Science (e.g., Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics).
Note: With an acceptable combination of experience and appropriate training, graduation with a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) by thesis from a recognized post-secondary institution, with specialization in a Natural or Applied Science applied to large-scale biological data sets, may be considered.
1. Experience in performing and validating molecular methods.
2. Experience with modern ′omic approaches (genomics, metagenomics or metatranscriptomics).
3. Significant* experience with Illumina high throughput sequencing and data analysis.
4. Experience in communicating complex scientific subject matter, in writing** and orally.
5. Experience in planning, execution, monitoring and supervising of scientific research project delivery, which includes training of scientific personnel.
*Significant is defined as the depth / breadth of Experience normally acquired by performing these activities for two or more years. (Note: Experience obtained during academic training may be recognized as full-time equivalent experience).
** A listing of the Applicant’s co-authored Scientific Publications and Presentations is expected for inclusion within the Candidate’s application.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in identifying and characterizing microorganisms.
2. Experience in performing phylogenetic and phylogenomic analyses.
3. Significant* experience with genomics research project management, including data management and publication.
4. Experience with UNIX / UNIX-like commands.
5. Experience with quality management.
