The CRTC is a federal administrative tribunal of about 450 employees that serves Canadians as citizens, creators and consumers, and is committed to providing them with access to a world-class communications system. The CRTC is a division of the Federal Public Administration under the responsibility of the Minister of Canadian Heritage, pursuant to Schedule I-1 of the Financial Administration Act. CRTC’s employees are employees of the public service.

At the CRTC, we engage in a wide range of activities. As part of our role in ensuring Canadians have access to a world-class communications system, we supervise and regulate various services on which we all rely. For example, we work to encourage and enhance competition in telecommunications services, such as Internet broadband and mobile phone. We promote Canadian culture and the development of compelling and diverse content by and for Canadians through the licensing of TV and radio services. We also work to reduce spam, unsolicited telecommunications and other nuisance communications.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education and/or Occupation Certification:

A degree in Graphic Design from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Recent experience in the execution of design projects, from initial concept to delivery.
• Experience in graphic design for publications, promotional materials, infographics, exhibits and social media.
• Recent* experience using the following technology software:
o Adobe InDesign CS or later version
o Adobe Photoshop CS or later version
o Adobe Illustrator CS or later version
o Adobe Acrobat Professional
o Microsoft Word
o Microsoft PowerPoint

*“Recent” experience means within the last two years.

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of the Communication Policy of the Government of Canada and Federal Identity Program
• Knowledge of established and emerging methods, practices and standards relating to graphic design and publishing for digital and print

Abilities:

• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in order to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively orally
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing
• Ability to create design concepts using InDesign for Mac
• Ability to plan, conceptualize, develop and deliver creative and innovative design concepts.
• Ability to assess client needs and to explain various options in terms of concepts and production.
