Work environment

The Director of the Compliance Unit will provide leadership for the design and delivery of strategies and programs designed to foster voluntary compliance with the Competition Act. They will be responsible for engaging with stakeholders and the business community to promote the adoption of effective compliance programs, collaborating with the Competition Bureau`s other Directorates within the context of enforcement matters or for outreach, and providing advice to the Commissioner and senior managers on compliance matters.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Gatineau, Quebec.

A pool of partially qualified candidates or entirely qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various language requirements, various security requirements and various tenures within the Competition Bureau across Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a degree in Economics, Business, or related field; OR
Degree in law from a recognized university and eligibility for membership in the Bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or in the Order of Notaries in the Province of Quebec.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
E1: Significant* experience providing advice to senior management or clients on regulatory or legislative compliance OR Significant* experience leading complex** competition policy and/or complex** competition enforcement matters.
E2: Significant* experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external partners and clients.
E3: Significant* experience preparing and delivering presentations to external stakeholders.

* Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex related activities, normally acquired over a period of at least 3 years.

** Complex is defined as referring to at least three (3) of the following characteristics: multidimensional, multi-jurisdictional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting, having a major impact on the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage.
