Your salary as a Teacher or Teacher Aide is determined based on the EB collective agreement, your years of experience, and your education credentials (additional qualifications).

In order to work as a casual Teacher or Teacher Aide, you must have valid security clearance with the Government of Canada. Further information will be provided when your application is processed.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to create a list of casual supply workers to fill various temporary teaching coverage needs which may occur throughout the school year at any of the Six Nations schools.

Stream 1: ED-EST-01 Teacher
Stream 2: EU-TEA-01 Teacher Aide

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the casual supply list.

PROOF OF EDUCATION: OCT certificate*, copy of diplomas, degrees, transcripts and any additional post-secondary courses.
*Note: A print out of your OCT profile is not sufficient proof of education.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION: (Stream 1)
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

Note:
1.When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EDUCATION: (Stream 2)
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (See Note 1).

Note:
1.The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
◦A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
◦An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a.Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b.Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the EU classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EU classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification: (Stream 1)
• Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate* from a province or territory of Canada.
*Note: To teach in Six Nations, you must possess a teaching certificate from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT).

EXPERIENCE: (Stream 1)
• Recent* experience as a teacher or teacher candidate in an elementary private/public school setting demonstrated through recent performance appraisals and /or professional references, professional portfolio, practicum?

*Recent experience is defined as within the last 2 years

EXPERIENCE: (Stream 2)
• Experience working with elementary school (public/private) age children or in a day care setting.

• Experience using technology such as (IPADs, Kurzweil) or other assistive devices to facilitate learning in the classroom.
