A covering letter in 5,000 words (maximum) "You must clearly demonstrate, in your covering letter, how you meet the essential education and experience qualifications as well as the asset qualifications listed below. Education:
• Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution** in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce, economics, or other specialty related to the position.
and
• Recognized professional accounting designation such has Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant or Certified Management Accountant).
*Degree is defined as: Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master's degree), the term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
**Recognized post-secondary institution is defined as: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
Experience:
• Significant and recent experience* in leading/directing the formulation and implementation of financial and comptrollership policies, plans, standards, processes and procedures.
• Experience in building partnerships and negotiating agreements with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Significant and recent experience* in managing financial** and human resources***.
• Experience briefing senior management on complex high profile issues.
*Significant and recent experience is defined as: a minimum of three (3) years within the last five(5) calendar years.
** Experience managing financial resources is defined as: Applicants must show evidence of managing a budget of $1M or more. This experience is defined as being responsible for sound financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly or indirectly. This experience is normally acquired over a period of a minimum of one (1) year within the last three (3) years. Clear and specific examples should be provided by applicants in their application and demonstrate evidence of accountabilities, deliverables and level of complexity.
*** Experience managing human resources is defined as: Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work, managed and assessed performance and developed or contributed to the development of staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised. This experience is normally acquired over a period of a minimum of one (1) year within the last three (3) years. Clear and specific examples should be provided by applicants in their application and demonstrate evidence of accountabilities, deliverables and level of complexity.
Asset Qualifications
Education:
• A Master of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience:
• Experience in managing and implementing grant and contribution programming.
• Experience managing organizational change initiatives, including the adoption of new technologies, business processes or organizational structures.
• Experience developing/drafting program authorities and/or intergovernmental agreements.
• Significant and recent experience* working with provincial/territorial governments and representing an organisation at senior level stakeholder consultations.
• Experience managing or implementing an integrated (Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)) financial management and reporting system.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
