Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent might be considered first for a deployment.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions within Library and Archives Canada using various languages requirements and/or various tenures and/or various security profiles according to the positions being staffed.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
-Recent experience* in mail handling such as, without being limited to pick-up, delivery, sorting or distribution
-Experience in using a personal computer and current work software

*Recent experience means within the last five (5) years.

Asset Experience:
-Experience working in a mailroom
-Experience in the operation of postage machines.
-Experience in using mail tracking systems and softwares.
-Experience as a shipper/receiver.
-Experience using Canada Post electronic shipping tools.

Asset Knowledge:
-Knowledge of postal services, mail categories and mail service alternatives.

Condition of Employment:
-Secret clearance
-Ability to stand for long periods and to lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 30 kgs (50 lbs).
-Ability to push and pull mail carts, flatbeds as well as moving cages or skids with a manual forklift.

Candidates must be willing and able to work at any of the Library and Archives Canada's facilities (located in the National Capital Region) on short notice.

The primary assessment (written tests, interview) location will be in Gatineau, Quebec.

Please note that achieving a pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a cut-off mark that is higher than the pass mark on any evaluation used throughout the process.
