Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in microbiology, chemistry, pharmacy, food science, or some other specialty related to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Significant* experience establishing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Significant* experience providing authoritative regulatory or technical advice and recommendations to Senior Management** on broad, multifaceted, complex*** issues
• Significant* experience leading or coordinating a science regulatory program or project, with particular responsibility for one or more of the following functions:
- Regulatory compliance and enforcement operations;
- Issuing authorizations in accordance with a legislative or regulatory framework;
- Policy development related to a regulatory program;
- Risk management related to a regulatory program.

*Significant experience is understood to mean having performed these duties on a sustained basis for 2 years in the last 5 years.
**Senior Management means Director and above.
*** Complex issues include criteria such as: national in scope; having many elements or dimensions; having significant public visibility; featuring significant involvement by partners or stakeholders, financially challenging, etc.
