The intention of the process is to staff two positions indeterminately and two positions with an acting appointment. Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with a specialization in a field relevant to the position.
Experience:
Experience* working with science issues related to one or more of the following areas: the conservation or management of aquatic species or aquatic ecosystems or animal health or genomics or aquaculture.
Experience* evaluating scientific results and communicating scientific issues, findings or technical information to non-experts.
Experience*collaborating with or coordinating science projects, science programs, science initiatives, science teams or science advisory processes.
Experience* developing scientific analysis or science-based advice to stakeholders, managers or scientists related to one or more of the following areas: the conservation or management of aquatic species or ecosystems or aquaculture or animal health.
* Experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience in the workplace normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities for at least one year within the past seven years.
Education:
Post graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in natural, physical or applied science with a specialization in biological sciences.
Experience:
A minimum of at least two years of experience in the workplace, working with science policies or science programs related to aquaculture science.
Experience conducting research or analyzing scientific information related to aquaculture science.
Experience in program coordination, planning and management of research in aquaculture science.
Experience conducting scientific risk assessment with ecological or environmental protection objectives.
Experience conducting research or analyzing scientific information related to aquatic animal health.
Experience in program coordination, planning and management of research in animal health.
Experience in assessing the effects of genetically-modified fish
Knowledge:
Knowledge of National Aquatic Animal Health Program
Various language requirements
English essential, Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB)

Knowledge of federal legislation and policies relating to conservation and management of aquatic resources or aquatic ecosystems.
Knowledge of aquatic biology and aquatic ecosystems.
