The Director, Internal Audit Operations is accountable for delivering on the Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Risk-Based Audit Plan that provides independent assurance on the effectiveness and adequacy of the Departments’ risk management, control and governance processes. The Director is responsible for the management of the assurance and advisory projects performed by Internal Audit Operations.
The intent of the process is to staff one position. The process may also be used to staff similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various language requirements. All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to staff a similar position in their organization.

EDUCATION:
1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Degree:
Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.
Recognized post-secondary institution:
A public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Recent * and significant ** experience in leading the planning, conducting and reporting phases of audits, reviews, or evaluations.
2. Recent * experience in providing strategic advice and presenting findings and recommendations to senior management.
3. Recent * experience in developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Experience in managing human resources*.

NOTE (*):
Recent is defined as experience acquired over the last five (5) years.
Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various complex related activities for a minimum of two (2) years.
Some examples of managing human resources should include the following activities: supervising staff, establishing vision, priorities, establishing work plans or performance objectives, conducting performance assessments and feedback, approving training, demonstrating experience in managing various service delivery and resources allocation frameworks. Applicants should also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
