Duties

The Director General, Evaluation and Integrated Risk Management (Specific accountabilities):

1. Provides, as the Department’s Chief Risk Officer, strategic advice, recommandations and support on risk management to the Minister, Deputy Minister, Associate Deputy Ministers and PSPC’ senior management.

2. Provides leadership and guides the development and implementation of the Department’s Corporate Risk Management Strategy and Integrated Risk Management Framework, including the risk framework, profile, policies, directives and tools.

3. Oversees the conceptualization, development and direction of the Department’s Evaluation Program.

4. Leads an annual evaluation planning exercise.

5. Leads the research of best practices for Risk Management and Evaluation Programs.

6. Leads the management of all activities between the Department and all external audit entities relevant to the conduct of external audits pertaining to PSPC.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff various EX-02 positions, of different tenures, within the Public Service.

A covering letter in 3,500 words (maximum) "In this document, you must provide concrete and detailed examples to clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience requirements listed in the essential qualifications and asset qualifications section. The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience. It is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current duties. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a bachelor’s or a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution*.

*Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

EX1: Significant (1*) experience in leading a corporate risk management program.

EX2: Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management related to corporate risk management.

EX3: Experience in building cooperative working relationships with a variety of partners and stakeholders towards the achievement of a common objective.

EX4: Experience in managing human (2*) and financial (3*) resources.

Definition:

(1*) Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and the breadth of experience normally associated with having performed the activities for a minimum of two (2) years.

(2*) Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have managed human resources. Some examples of managing human resources may include: assigning work, managing performance, developing resourcing plans, determining needs, approving training, etc. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised and the duration.

(3*) Applicants must show evidence of managing and being accountable for a budget. Some examples of managing financial resources may include: Forecasting, planning, budget allocation, reporting, etc. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed and the duration.
