The intent of the process is to staff positions on an indeterminate basis in Dartmouth, NS and St. John’s NL. A pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff other similar positions within CCG Atlantic Region.

Education:
A secondary school (High School) diploma and completion of an acceptable 2 year training program in electronics technology or acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience OR having achieved the Canadian Forces developmental period (DP) 3 in the field of communication, radar, sonar, or navigational systems.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
**Significant experience in the maintenance or installation of marine or shore-based navigation, informatics or communication electronics systems.

**Significant experience providing advice and recommendations to supervisors, co-workers and clients concerning marine or land electronic equipment, and systems used for navigation, communications or informatics.

**Significant experience interfacing, assembling and troubleshooting electronics systems.

**Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of at least two years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
- Graduation with a master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
- Certified as a Project Manager (PMBoK or other certification)

Degree equivalency

Experience:
**Significant experience in project management.
**Significant experience working in an Engineering design group.
**Significant and *recent experience in the installation and maintenance of shipboard informatics systems.
**Significant and *recent experience in the installation and maintenance of shipboard electronic systems.
**Significant *recent experience in the installation and maintenance of marine communications and navigation land-based electronic systems.

*Recent is defined as the last five years.

**Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are normally acquired over a period of at least two years.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

- Requirement to work in an operational environment, including the occasional need to work overtime and on weekends.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Requirement to travel domestically by various modes of transportation (e.g. boat, automobile, plane, helicopter, etc.) and perform work on vessels at sea.
- Requirement to travel for extended periods for general duties and for training purposes. Travel could be required outside the regional area.
- Must not be subject to vertigo (working on towers and ships' masts) and to claustrophobia
