This selection process may initially be used to staff the position on a temporary basis. The result of this selection process will be to create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to fill future permanent or temporary vacancies.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a minimum of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in Electronics and/or Telecommunications, specializing in Radio Frequency (RF), Wireless Technology or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

1. *Significant experience in programming, implementing, testing, modifying and/or maintaining modern radio and/or data communications systems and/or equipment.

2. *Significant experience working with state-of-the-art electronic test equipment utilized in the land mobile radio, cellular, broadcast radio, signal processing and filters, and/or other radio frequency (RF) related field(s).

3. *Significant experience in designing and/or troubleshooting electronic circuitry for transmitting analog and/or digital signals.

4. **Some experience in programming for electronics using computer programming language(s) and/or application development.

5. **Some experience in planning and delivering project(s).


* “Significant experience” is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of duties on a continuous basis over approximately 2 years.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

• Network+, CCNA, and/or CCNP Certification
• Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada or to obtain a limited license in British Columbia, with specialization in electrical engineering and/or eligibility for certification as a technology professional with one or more of the following or equivalent designations by a provincial professional organization recognized by the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB): Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Applied Science Technologist (AScT), and/or Professional Technologist (PTech).
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.

1. Experience with developing Android application(s) and/or web application(s) interfaces with Esri GIS interface and/or SQL database.
2. Experience with working in an Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO) certified environment.
3. Experience with working in Law Enforcement agency/organization.

• Preference may be given to RCMP employees impacted/affected by work force adjustment.
• In support of achieving a representative workforce, consideration may be given to candidates who have self-identified as a member of one or more of the following designated groups: women, members of visible minorities, aboriginal peoples and persons with disabilities.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance

1. Possession of a valid driver's license.
2. Willingness and ability to travel throughout service area (i.e. BC).
3. Willingness and ability to work extended hours, unscheduled overnight travel and/or adjust work schedule, with little or no notice, to meet operational requirements.
4. Willingness and ability to provide after-hours support via operational availability (on call).
5. Mobility to the extent of crawling and working in confined areas of vehicles/aircraft/ships to install radio, electrical and antenna equipment.
6. Physical ability for lifting of heavy or awkward items like radios and batteries, up to 90 lbs.
7. Willingness and ability to perform work duties in inclement and uncomfortable weather conditions such as pouring rain and extreme cold (-40 Celsius).

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
