Intent of the process

A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles, various security clearances as well as various locations across Canada within the Canada Border Services Agency.

EXPERIENCE

-‘Significant experience’* procuring goods or services which includes the following: (i) developing procurement strategies**, (ii) soliciting competitive requirements (e.g. request for proposal), and (iii) awarding contracts or issuing contract amendments. NOTE: You must demonstrate that you have experience in all of the three (3) activities.

* Significant experience is defined as the depth, breadth and diversity of experience normally acquired over 1 year within the last 5 years for PG-04, 2 years within last 7 years for PG-05, and 4 years within the last 10 years for PG-06.

**Developing procurement strategies:
A procurement strategy refers to the planned approach to soliciting the requirement that will result in best value, not just price. Your strategy should consider several elements such as procurement timeline, funding, projected risks and opportunities, encourage innovation, opportunities to rationalize supply base or leverage economies of scale, method of procurement such as standing offer, alternatives to supply, strategies to improve supplier performance, opportunities to improve business processes or reduce administration, improve delivery turnaround times, etc. Note: A method of procurement on its own is not considered a procurement strategy. This is only one small element of your overall strategy.

-Experience in using various word processing, data management, and email software or systems such as Microsoft Suite.

-Experience providing advice to clients related to procurement of goods or services.

-Experience providing advice and recommendations to management*** related to procurement of goods or services.

***Experience providing advice and recommendations to management means that management is responsible for procurement within the organization. This is not intended to mean general management within the organization who may have a procurement need.

LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS: It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Departmental contact of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations.
