A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Toronto and other similar positions of various tenures and/or various linguistic requirements within Transport Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination* of education and experience.

*Acceptable combination is defined as completion of two (2) years of secondary school and at least five (5) years of experience working in the railway industry performing duties related to this position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Significant* experience working in the rail car maintenance department of a railway in Canada.

*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex activities related to this position, normally acquired over a period of five (5) years.

Asset Qualifications

Education:
• Successful completion of a post-secondary educational program from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Experience:
• Experience working in a supervisory role within a railway in Canada.
• Experience as a Certified Car Inspector, Heavy Duty Mechanic (Locomotive), or Electrician (Locomotive).
• Experience in risk evaluation and trend analysis.

• Knowledge of the Railway Freight Car Inspection and Safety Rules.

• Ability to recognize unsafe railway operating situations and to ensure corrective actions are taken.

• Ability and willingness to travel on short notice and for extended periods using all modes of transportation.
