Information on accommodation for persons with disabilities
This position is responsible for supervising a team that performs day to day preventative maintenance and inspections, as well as repairs on a variety of mechanical building systems. The incumbent will allocate work to a team of multi-disciplinary facility workers and may be required to act as the liaison between AAFC and trades personnel. The incumbent will be required to have an understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) principles.
As one of the 20 research sites in Canada, the Indian Head Research Farm is located in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. The Indian Head site is responsible for conducting various agricultural research studies for the Government of Canada. This position works in conjunction with a staff of 3 other employees to support the research by ensuring that the facilities and infrastructure are maintained in accordance with regulated maintenance and codes as well by meeting the requirements of the research programs at the Indian Head Research Farm.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent full-time or part-time basis or on a temporary full-time or part-time basis.

Experience planning, scheduling and coordinating the work of service providers responsible for operations and maintenance activities that involve a number of trades.

Applicant currently possesses either a Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission, or the ability to write the challenge exam to obtain a journeyperson status.

Knowledge of maintenance requirements in the operation of a large facility such as but not limited to plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, and refrigeration.
Knowledge of the Canadian National Building Code, the Canadian National Fire Code and the Canada Labour Code Part II.

Possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
As the Facilities Officer, there is a requirement to work on call responding to urgent facility operational problems on a 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule and to also respond in a timely manner, within 45 minutes of being called out to work.
