Information on accommodation for persons with disabilities
Analytical equipment and infrastructure (ie. lab, equipment, etc) is located in the Neatby Building at the ORDC. Position is a part-time, student position at the ORDC and will therefore require applicants to come from the NCR.
The candidate will be responsible for providing analytical support for data preprocessing and multivariate/univariate statistical analysis of metabolomics data from several on-going research projects, aligned with one of our several mandated research goals. The candidate will be expected to carry out statistical analysis and write their own scripts in the R computational environment. Other tasks may include preparation of solvent extracts from soil or sediment; preparation of extracts for UPLC-HRMS and GC-MS profiling; and proper chemical waste management and routine laboratory maintenance. By the end of the research term, the candidate will be responsible for the preparation of a written report summarizing their results obtain during their work term.
The site of work is situated on the fourth floor of the Neatby Bldg. at the Ottawa Research and Development Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. Work will be done in a chemistry lab working in the field of metabolomics and mycotoxin research. The lab is a communal environment, where work will be carried out both alone and in teams and space may be shared between research groups.

Currently enrolled/or elligible to enroll in a Master’s or PhD program in a recognize post-secondary academic institution with specialization in: Metabolomics, Bioinformatics, Environmental Science, or related science fields.
Experience* in the preparation and handling of solvent extracts from soil or sediment.
Experience* in planning and executing research projects in a laboratory environment.
Experience* in using software such as mzMine2.0 or XCMS for preprocessing,
alignment, and deconvolution of mass spectrometry data.
Experience* in using the R computational environment (or equivalent) for
multivariate/univariate statistical analysis.
* In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
