Intent of the process

Following the evaluation of applications, a pool could be created and be used to staff similar or identical positions in Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and other federal departments and agencies in the North that participate in the Northern development with various linguistic profiles as well as tenures and/or security clearance, which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture, environmental engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES:

Experience in project management related to all or certain aspects in the management of a complex* contaminated sites project.

Experience in developing project management documents, including project charter, execution plans and/or detailed plans as they relate to a complex* contaminated sites project.

Experience in providing strategic advice to senior management on complex* engineering issues.

Experience in procurement, directing consultants and managing financial resources.

* Complex can include any of the following: number of stakeholders, various disciplines, project dependencies on other projects/programs, and/or value of the project.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
( Not essential, but preference may be given to candidates who possess asset qualifications)

EDUCATION:

Certification as a professional engineer in Canada.

Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in environmental engineering.

Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).

EXPERIENCES:

Experience in managing mine closure/remediation in Canada’s northern territories.

Experience in technical reviews and cost validation in relation to contaminated sites.

Experience working with Aboriginal people in Canada’s northern territories.

Experience managing a multi-disciplinary team of 6, or more, employees to manage complex* contaminated sites projects.

* Complex can include any of the following: number of stakeholders, various disciplines, project dependencies on other projects/programs, and/or value of the project.

Degree equivalency

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates, such as: * written test, practical test, situational exercise, * oral interview, simulation, presentation, role-play, work samples, performance appraisals and/or * reference checks. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically, others, in-person. (* Indicates those tools that will most likely be used in this process.)

7. Applicants are entitled to participate in the staffing process in the official language of their choice and are required to indicate their preferred official language in their application profile.
