Work environment

The PSC is located in a brand new building at 22 Eddy Street, in the heart of downtown Gatineau. Our location is easily accessible and is located near the complex Les Terrasses de la Chaudière and just a few kilometers away from downtown Ottawa. Our facilities meet the new 2.0 office concept and is WI-FI ready throughout the building. Our employees also have access to showers, changing rooms and reserved spaces for bicycles, which is ideal for those wishing to travel to work by bike, running or walking while using the nearby bike paths. Moreover, the PSC launched in March, a pilot project for active workstations, which now enables our employees to work while walking on treadmill or pedaling on stationary bike.

Intent of the process

The results of this process will initially be used to staff an indeterminate position within the Public Service Commission in the Capital National Region.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions within the Public Service Commission other organizations within the core public administration (http://www.psc-cfp.gc.ca/plcy-pltq/rfli-lirf/index-eng.htm).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
E1: A degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization** in information management or library science; or a college diploma with a specialization** in information management or library science and an extensive experience*** in information management discipline; or an acceptable combination of education and training including five (5) courses related to the field and extensive experience*** related to information management discipline.

*"Degree" is defined as a Bachelor degree as established by the relevant school authorities.
**"Specialization" is defined as a minimum of four (4) courses.
***"Extensive experience" is defined as experience acquired over a minimum period of five (5) consecutive years.

Foreign educational credentials must be assessed by a recognized credential assessment service (http://www.cicic.ca/415/credential-assessment-services.canada).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in providing advice and recommendations in the form of reports, briefing notes or presentations to senior management* on strategic and tactical issues in Information Management (IM).
EX2: Recent** and significant*** experience in providing reports on the progress, status and results.
EX3: Recent** and significant*** experience implementing IM tools or policies at the corporate level.
EX4: Recent** and significant*** experience in developing and managing an enterprise information management program.
EX5: Recent** and significant*** experience in managing and supervising an IM work team.
EX6: Experience in planning and managing human resource processes such as staffing processes.

*"Senior management" is defined as director level (or equivalent) and above.
**"Recent experience" is defined as experience acquired over the last five years.
***"Significant experience" is defined as experience acquired over a minimum period of three (3) full years.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of principles, best practices, trends and problems related to managing information in the government of Canada.
K2: Knowledge of strategies or tools used to implement and integrate obligations relating to information management.
K3: Knowledge of the role of information management in the organization.
