The CGC is a significant part of Canada’s dynamic and diverse agriculture sector. We regulate grain handling in Canada, set grain standards and conduct grain research.

This process will be used to staff a two (2) year term position.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used for similar indeterminate, specified period employment, acting appointments, secondments or deployments.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a field related to the duties of the position such as: food science, chemistry or related sciences.
Experience:
- Recent* and extensive** experience in conducting analytical tests for evaluation of grain quality using related laboratory procedures.
- Recent* experience in developing, assessing and adapting tests and methods for characterizing and evaluating grain quality.
- Recent* experience in planning and carrying out research projects for investigating factors affecting end-use quality of grains.
- Recent* and extensive** experience in operating, troubleshooting and maintaining modern laboratory equipment and instruments for analysis and processing of grains.
Recent* is defined as experience obtained within the last 3 years.
Extensive** is defined as the breadth and depth of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of one (1) or more year(s).
Education:
An advanced degree with specialization in a field related to the duties of the position including: food science, chemistry or related sciences.
Experience:
- Experience in carrying out research projects for investigating factors affecting end-use quality of pulses.
- Experience in research and development of techniques for evaluation of pulses.
- Experience in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and modern instruments for processing and analyzing pulses.
- Experience in preparation of scientific and technical reports/papers.
- Experience in providing supervision, training and technical expertise to others.

- Ability and willingness to be exposed to grain and flour dust.
Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication, and must not impinge upon the work to be performed.
