EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization* in physics, geology, chemistry or some other science relevant to the position

*For the purposes of these standards, the term "specialization" refers to an acceptable number of courses in a particular field of study.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

-Experience in participating in environmental assessments or projects or analyses of environmental issues
-Experience in group facilitation*
-Experience analyzing scientific issues and assessing environmental effects
-Experience preparing multi-disciplinary scientific or technical reports
-Experience providing advice and presenting information about complex issues to senior management or stakeholders
-Experience managing projects

*Group Facilitation: Leading a multi-disciplinary team with conflicting opinions and expertise to address an issue of mutual interest and to build consensus.

-Knowledge of the scientific techniques and methods utilized in environmental assessments
-Knowledge of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 and other legislation and policies relevant to federal environmental assessment.

ASSET EDUCATION:

-Experience working in the marine sciences field
-Experience in the environmental assessment of offshore oil and gas related projects and activities

-Knowledge of current issues related to the marine environment

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
