We manage Canada's airwaves and work with Canadians and the Canadian industry in the field of radiocommunication and telecommunication from across the country, promoting innovation and building a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace.
Specifically, the Spectrum Operations (DGSO) and Spectrum Licensing Policy (SLPB) Branches are responsible for a wide range of activities related to the management of the airwaves and to the telecommunications response in emergency situations. The Spectrum Operations team works collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop operational and licensing policies and processes, to define and evaluate spectrum management software requirements, to monitor compliance, and to lead and support multi-branch projects and initiatives. SLPB’s main responsibilities include developing the policies for making spectrum available for wireless telecommunications services in Canada, holding multi-million/billion-dollar spectrum auctions, providing economic advice related to spectrum auctions, developing regulatory best practices, and strategic planning for the sector.
ISED is located at the CD Howe Building, situated at 235 Queen Street, an office complex in downtown Ottawa, close to Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal and the Rideau Shopping Centre. This location offers close access to restaurants, fitness facilities, walking/running paths and parks. We are conveniently located close to major bus routes so it is easy to commute from all points across the National Capital Region.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created to staff similar positions within Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada with various language requirements and various tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment).

EDUCATION
EDU - Completion of post-secondary diploma or degree, in a field related to the position (e.g. Commerce, Business Administration, Communications, Information Management, Information Technology, Electronics Technology, or Engineering) or an acceptable combination of education, experience, and/or training.
EXPERIENCE
E1 - Experience conducting research, analyzing data or options, and making recommendations to *senior management in a work environment;
E2 - Experience collaborating internally and liaising with external partners, clients, or stakeholders;
E3 - Experience in the development of policies, procedures, or regulations and/or documenting business processes.
