The CGC is a significant part of Canada’s dynamic and diverse agriculture sector. We regulate grain handling in Canada, set grain standards and conduct grain research. This process may be used to staff two specializations of CS-02 positions.
Stream 1 is for Support Analyst – Network and Security, Infrastructure / Operations
Stream 2 is for Support Analyst – Systems, Infrastructure / Operations
A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar indeterminate, specified period employment, acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.

Education:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed*.
*A candidate who does not meet the minimum education requirement must demonstrate at least 2 years of IT-related experience for each year of post-secondary studies in IM/IT that the candidate does not have. (As illustration, a candidate that has completed high school would require 4-year’s work experience.)
Notes:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
Experience:
• Recent1 and significant2 experience working in information technology (IT), including computer support or service delivery in a multi-platform and multi-site networked environment.
• Recent1 and significant2 experience with troubleshooting methodologies and resolving technical issues in the field of Information Technology.
Definitions:
1 - Recent refers to experience normally acquired within the last five (5) years.
2 - Significant refers to a depth and breadth of experience in the IM/IT field that would
normally be acquired over a period of one (1) or more year(s).
Education:
A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or a three (3) year diploma from a recognized college with specialization in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or any other field related to the position.
Certifications:
Professional Certifications: i.e. ITIL Foundation, Microsoft MCSE, CompTIA A+, Network+ or Security+, Cisco ICND1 & 2, Citrix, VMware or any other certifications relevant to the position and recognized in the IM/IT field.
Experience (Applicable to Stream 1 only):
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting Cisco-based networking devices.
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting Cisco ASA Firewalls with Firepower Services.
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting a Cisco Meraki network environment.
• Experience providing security incident handling and response.
• Experience providing video conference support to clients including Cisco WebEx or Cisco Collaboration Meeting Room technologies.
• Experience creating detailed technical documentation, network diagrams using Microsoft Visio or other similar tools.
Experience (Applicable to Stream 2 only):
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting a VMware/ESXi environment.
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting Microsoft Server 2012/2016.
• Experience in managing and supporting Microsoft Active Directory.
• Experience supporting a Citrix XenDesktop or Citrix XenApp environment.
• Experience installing, configuring and supporting a SAN/NAS environment.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange 2013 or 2016.
• Experience supporting Blackberry UEM Server.
• Experience providing computer related technical support in a scientific laboratory environment.
• Experience in Windows or Microsoft PowerShell scripting.
• Experience providing patch management support including the use of Microsoft WSUS.
• Experience providing data backup and restoration support including the use of Veeam.
