Important messages

The Public Service of Canada is committed to workplace inclusion. A workplace in which individual differences are recognized, appreciated and respected, and where each person's talents and strengths are fully developed and utilized.

Creating an environment where diverse perspectives are valued begins with self-identification. Help us to achieve this goal by identifying your employment equity group.

Give yourself the best chance to succeed!

If you have a limitation that may impact your performance during an assessment, such as a test or interview, you may require an accommodation. Assessment accommodations are designed to remove the obstacles without altering the criteria being assessed so candidates with limitations can fully demonstrate their abilities.

To request an assessment accommodation or if you have questions, including the physical environment of the exam room, please contact us as soon as possible at

Each request will be individually reviewed. You will be asked to provide information regarding your limitations. If needed, professional documentation could be requested to determine the appropriate accommodation measures. For more information about assessment accommodation, please visit our website at https://www.canada.ca/en/public-service-commission/services/assessment-accommodation-page.html

Work environment

The Ultimate (Audit) Universe

Are you interested in being close to the action, the people and the data that fuels an organization?

Do you thrive working in agile, multidisciplinary teams, whose goal it is to examine how things can run better, based on evidence?

If so, then internal audit is the profession for you!

You will be working in a forward thinking, transformative environment that thrives on innovation. We need your new ideas and fresh perspective to contribute to the success of our operations.

Through the Internal Auditor Recruitment and Development (IARD) Program, the Office of the Comptroller General pre-assesses high caliber candidates for recruitment into entry-level internal audit positions on behalf of federal government departments located across Canada, but mainly in the National Capital Region (Ottawa/Gatineau).

As an IARD participant, you will receive valuable on-the-job and formal training. Your development program will be tailored to meet departmental needs, as well as your professional goals, and will last for a period of up to 36 months.

To assist them in accessing more senior positions, IARD participants are also required to work towards obtaining a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification from the Institute of Internal Auditors https://na.theiia.org/certification/Pages/Certification.aspx

Intent of the process

The fine print

A pool of partially assessed candidates resulting from this process will be established on behalf of federal government organizations and may be used to fill similar positions with various language requirements. By applying to this process, you consent to your personal application-related information being shared with other government departments interested in staffing similar positions.

Candidates who participated in the IARD 2016 Campaign must apply to this new campaign as the current pool of pre-assessed candidate will expire once the 2018 campaign inventory is created.

This is a separate process from the Financial Officer Recruitment and Development (FORD) Program, also advertised in this current post-secondary recruitment campaign.

We thank all those who apply. Only those selected for further consideration will be contacted.
