When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
This process is intended to build an inventory to meet future casual employment needs. Casual employment is temporary employment of 90 working days or less, in a calendar year, to meet needs from such contingencies as vacations, sick and training leaves, to conduct special projects that are anticipated but dependent of the availability of funds. Individuals hired on a casual basis CANNOT work for more than 90 working days per calendar year within the RCMP, and CANNOT apply on internal opportunities as they are NOT hired as Public Service Employees. There should be no expectation of continued employment following a casual employment contract.
