The intent of this process is to establish a pool of pre-qualified candidates (pending second language results) that could be used to staff similar positions with various tenures. EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or in another program relevant to the position.*
* The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

EXPERIENCE
Extensive* experience in media relations
Experience in dealing with media onsite, at events or press conferences
Experience in providing communications advice to senior management or clients
*Extensive is defined as 2 years within the past 5 years.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
Experience in the coordination of media inquiries and interviews
Experience in monitoring and analyzing media coverage
Experience in coordinating the approval of media responses
Experience in responding verbally and in writing to media inquiries
Various language requirements
English Essential, Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC and CCC/CCC

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s Policy on Communications and Federal Identity
Knowledge of the priorities and current issues of Health Canada and Public Health Agency of Canada
