The position is located at headquarters in the NCR (Ottawa, Ontario), however, the incumbent will be required to travel on a regular basis to the Polar Continential Shelf Programs, Arctic Logistics Support Centres in Nunavut for several cycles of approximately 6 weeks each during the field season.
A pool of (fully or partially) qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the GS-STS-05 group and level at Natural Resources Canada and other Government departments with various tenures (determinate or indeterminate period, acting, assignment or secondment), various linguistic requirements (English essential, French essential, English or French essential, bilingual imperative (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)),, various security requirements and various conditions of employment.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience using inventory systems.
Experience in warehousing, storage and control of material.
Experience in the operation of materiel handling equipment, such as powered forklifts, pallet trucks and delivery vehicles.
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Possession of a current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate.
Possession of a valid Forklift Operator certificate.
Experience in the use of computerized systems in relation to shipping, receiving and inventory management.
Recent experience* working in a materiel distribution warehouse. (* is defined as within the last five (5) years).
Small engine repair skills.
Willing and able to work in isolated high-Arctic locations for extended periods of time.
Willing and able to travel to various locations in the Arctic on a regular basis.
Willing and able to undergo periods of intense/high-pressure activity.
Willing and able to work long hours and overtime, including work on weekends.
Willing and able to carry and operate a firearm in self-defence context against wildlife.
Willing and able to lift 25 kg (50 lbs).
Willing and able to use personal protective equipment.
