Duties

The Translator-Editor is responsible for translating a wide variety of complex financial documents from English to French, as well as texts of more general nature, and for revising the work of external translation service providers; they may also be called upon to provide editing, terminology and linguistic services and to help populate an in-house terminology database.

Work environment

OSFI's Ottawa location is downtown with easy access to shopping, restaurants, gyms, financial institutions and more. The building is less than a five minute walk from the Transitway and from the nearest STO stop.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act. OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative PPC/PPC on an indeterminate basis.

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of partially qualified and/or qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar positions at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

EDUCATION
- Graduation from a recognized university with a degree in translation or an acceptable combination of education, experience and/or training.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Recent* and extensive** experience translating technical and corporate documents from English to French
- Recent* and extensive** experience revising English to French translations of technical and corporate documents

* Recent: within the last four (4) years
** Extensive: over a minimum of three (3) years

- Professional certification in translation

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience translating financial sector documentation (e.g. financial reports, actuarial studies)
