The Unit
The Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) is responsible for conducting basic training for officers and non-commissioned members of the Regular Force both in garrison and austere field conditions. Its mission is to train and professionally develop the next Canadian Armed Forces generation morally, mentally, physically and intellectually. Every year, more than 5000 people start their military career at CFLRS, while 3000 military members train via Distance Learning. CFLRS employs more than 600 military and civilian employees.
This process will be used to staff one indeterminate position. Meanwhile, a pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff positions for determinate periods. This pool could be used to fill similar or identical positions within the Department of National Defense in Quebec area.

Education
A degree from a recognized university in communications or public relations OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position.
Experience
Recent** experience planning, managing and assessing an organization’s presence in traditional and social media
Recent** experience providing advice to members of management on high-profile or emerging problems
Recent** experience developing a variety of communications products such as news releases, media advisories, questions and answers, interview topics, speeches, briefing notes and brochures
Recent** experience using Microsoft Office suite
*Experience: the experience may include, but not be limited to internships, student jobs in a related field such as student newspaper

Significant** experience publishing documents on Government of Canada Intranet and Internet pages.
Significant** experience in one or more of the following domains:
- drafting scenarios and coordinating video and photo projects
- Planning and executing communication strategies and plans
- developing and implementing awareness-raising or outreach initiatives
Recent* and significant** experience advising and preparing spokespersons for media interviews.
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the past three years.
**Significant experience is defined as two years of continuous experience acquired within the past three years.
Experience with the military chain of command.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Communications Policy of the Government of Canada
