Duties are to provide scientific support within the Government of Canada’s Department of Fisheries and Oceans. This process aims at filling an indeterminate position among a research team at Maurice-Lamontagne Insitute. The nominee will work on experiments, mainly conducted in a wet laboratory, designed to evaluate interactions between aquaculture and the environment. Tasks include: 1) participate in the development of experimental protocols, 2) design and building of experimental setups, 3) manage experiments’ execution, 4) manage data collection and storage, and 5) participate in data analysis and writing of scientific articles/reports.
A pool of qualified candidates may established in order to staff similar positions at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in biology, aquatic sciences, or a field related to the duties.
Research experience in marine coastal or freshwater environments.
Experience in managing experiments, especially in a wet laboratory.
Experience in data management.
Experience in writing and publishing scientific articles.
Graduate degree with a specialization in biology, aquatic sciences, or a field related to the duties.
Experience in developing, building and maintaining complex marine/freshwater laboratory systems.
Experience in collection, transportation and care of live aquatic organisms.
Experience in designing and building automated control systems of abiotic parameters (e.g. temperature or salinity).
Experience in crisis management in a wet laboratory.
Experience in field work in coastal marine or freshwater environments.
Experience in managing the activities of a technical support team.
Experience in ordering supplies and managing expenses in accordance with the Departmental directives, and entering expenses in softwares used by the Department.
Various language requirements
