In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system by First Nations and Inuit. We are searching for collaborative and strategic individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic and energetic environment, with a strong focus on quality client service. We are currently looking to staff positions that will be primarily involved in the planning, development, delivery or management of administrative and federal government policies, programs, services or other activities directed to the public.
By joining our team, you will have opportunity to provide direct support to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.
Our office is located in Canada Place at 9700 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta. Our workplace is in close proximity to Churchill Square, the river valley and many restaurants. It has several bus and LRT stops close by, as well as parking lots in the vicinity which makes it easy to get to and from work.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar, term and/or permanent positions, acting, assignments/secondments, or deployments.
The intent is to staff via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

Asset Education
Graduation with a degree from a post-secondary institution with a specialization in a health or social sciences-related field, OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Asset Experience:
1. Experience supporting delivery of social or health programs or services.
2. Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations.
3. Experience in budget management (i.e. management of program funding, expenditures, program allocations or forecasting) which could include: monitoring contracts, grants, contribution agreements, or funding arrangements.
4. Experience conducting audits on contribution agreements or funding arrangements.
5. Experience with the Grants and Contributions Information Management System (GCIMS) for Health Funding Arrangement creation and management.
6. Experience creating or working and or managing Contribution Agreements or Health Funding Arrangements or Grants.
7. Experience working with Non-Insured Health Benefits, including adjudication of one or more benefits and/or knowledge of the associated system application such as Vision-Omnisoft; Medical Transportation-MTS; MH-Mental Health Services Tracking System; Medical Supplies and Equipment and Dental Health Information and Claims Processing Service (HCIPS).
8. Experience managing human resources, including staffing, recruiting, and development of performance metrics/performance appraisal.
9. Experience delivering front line customer service in a high volume call centre.
