Western Economic Diversification Canada is inviting applications from a highly motivated and skilled individual who meets the above criteria and who seeks to learn firsthand about a federal government corporate environment. In this exciting position located in Edmonton, you will be providing strategic support, analysis and expert advice to senior management on procurement; materiel management policies and procedures; developing procurement strategies; meeting central agency reporting requirements as well as providing expertise to departmental staff on purchasing, contracting methods and negotiation techniques in accordance with policies, procedures and trade agreements. This position is open to individual who are interested in a term assignment, secondment or interchange*.
Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) was established in 1987 to promote the development and diversification of the economy of Western Canada and to advance the interests of the West in national economic policy, program and project development and implementation. Our headquarters are in Edmonton and we have regional offices in Vancouver, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and a Policy and Strategic Direction Office in Ottawa.

Successful completion of secondary school education according to provincial/territorial standards or a combination of education, experience, and/or training.
Significant* experience in procurement and contract management.
Experience in providing strategic and timely, analysis and advice to senior management on procurement and material management.
Experience developing procurement strategies, negotiating contracts and managing a competitive bid process.
Experience in developing and delivering training and awareness sessions related to procurement and contracting.
Experience researching and interpreting contracting policies and standards, and best practices as it relates to departmental procurement.
*Significant is defined as having performed the full-time duties of the job for a period of three years or more.
Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position.
Experience in planning and coordinating workplace/facilities projects based on Workplace 2.0 compliance and related greening initiatives or equivalent.
Experience with Security Programs, including security investigations, conducting Threat and Risk Assessments (TRA), emergency management and business continuity program management.
Experience supporting HR programs such as recruitment, onboarding and/or awards and recognition.
Experience delivering training.
Experience in asset management, relocation and liaising with legal services.
Experience in organizational development.
