Provision of Refrigeration Mechanic Services for the Lethbridge Research and Development Centre. The successful candidate will provide maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems for the buildings, services, and infrastructure, to meet the research, facility management and regulatory requirements of an Agricultural Research Centre under the direction and in consultation with the Assistant Facilities Manager.
As one of the 20 research sites in Canada, this Refrigeration Mechanic position is located within the Lethbridge site. The Lethbridge site is responsible for conducting various agricultural research studies for the Government of Canada. This position will support the delivery of these by helping maintain a healthy work flow for the science community by providing support to our clients in accomplishing assigned tasks.
Immediate need: 1 full time indeterminate position.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar indeterminate or specified period employment.

Possession of a valid Interprovincial Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic Certificate.
Experience in maintaining and repairing various commercial or institutional refrigeration systems such as Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Systems.
Experience in monitoring contract cost estimates and making final recommendations on payments upon completion of work.
Experience with planning, organizing, and estimating costs or materials for construction, renovation, or maintenance projects.
Experience using MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Valid certificate in 2003 Federal Halocarbon Regulations through Environment Canada.
Experience using a computerized building management system such as Siemens Apogee program.

Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Ability and willingness to work under variable environmental/weather conditions.
Ability and willingness to work overtime during emergency situations, evenings, and weekends.
Ability and willingness to lift materials up to 20 kg.
Ability and willingness to be and Stand-by on a rotational basis.
Ability and willingness to undertake training related to the duties of the position.
