Headquartered in Calgary, the National Energy Board is an independent federal regulator established in 1959 to promote safety and security, environmental protection and economic efficiency in the Canadian public interest within the mandate set by Parliament for the regulation of pipelines, energy development and trade. The Board reports to Parliament through the Minister of Natural Resources.
The National Energy Board is recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers. This is an annual competition that recognizes the country's best places to work by Mediacorp Canada.
The NEB is hiring students for various positions to analyse relevant energy market issues and policy trends, manage and model data, and help produce online content. Under the guidance of senior-level analysts, students may conduct research from a variety of sources, synthesize complex information and, in some cases, compile, validate and model data. With this information, students may produce products for external audiences and reports for internal executives. Students will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and are expected to contribute to a professional and positive team environment.
A qualified pool of candidates may be created. This selection process may be used to staff other similar student positions at an equivalent or lower level on a term, internships, co-ops, or casual basis. Appointments will be based on the assessment results of the essential or essential and asset qualifications and with regard to breadth and depth of experience.
