Natural Resources Canada’s intent is to immediately staff a bilingual imperative CBC/CBC position in Ottawa for an indeterminate period. A pool of qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic and security requirements, various conditions of employment and locations.

A covering letter in 1,000 words (maximum) "Candidates must provide a cover letter with concrete and detailed examples which clearly illustrate how you meet each of the education and experience criteria listed in the essential qualifications section as well as any applicable asset qualifications. An effective approach would be to use the wording of each experience criterion as a heading and then write one or two paragraphs demonstrating, with clear and accurate details, how you meet each of them. Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university, with specialization in environmental science, environmental engineering, geology, biology, or some other science relevant to the position.
Experience:
- Experience in planning, organizing and directing the operational activities of a multi-disciplinary team, including managing human resources.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships, and collaborating, with stakeholders.
- Experience in providing strategic scientific and policy advice and recommendations to senior management on matters related to complex environmental or regulatory issues.

- Knowledge of environmental impact assessment and the Government of Canada’s related regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of key environmental issues as they relate to the management of natural resources.

Asset Education:
Graduation with a Master's degree with specialization in a field relevant to the position.
Asset Experience:
- Significant* experience in participating in federal, provincial or territorial environmental impact assessment processes.
- Experience in developing or participating in a regional environmental study.
- Experience in engagement or consultation activities with Indigenous communities or organizations.
- Experience in managing financial resources for at least one fiscal year.
- Experience in providing presentations and answering questions in a public setting.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of full time working experience during a period of four (4) years.
Operational Requirements:
- Willing and able to travel within Canada, including travel by car, rail and air.
- Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
