Duties

Key Activities:

- Provide strategic advice and support to Regional Executive Officer,

- Ensure regional perspective is reflected in national strategies, policies, programs,

- Lead the delivery of First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) regional programs and services with First Nations and Inuit to achieve optimal health and wellness,

- Manage human (health professional and administrative), financial, information and material resources.

Each position is unique and may differ in focus.

Intent of the process

The intent is to staff four (4) positions. A list of qualified candidates may be created to staff these or similar positions with various tenures, locations across Canada and various language requirements within Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada.

Education:

Graduation with a degree from recognized post-secondary institution in a health or social science field directly related to the duties of the position or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

Experience in providing strategic advice and making recommendations to senior management regarding Indigenous health or social issues.

Experience in developing and implementing evidence based policy and program solutions in a health related domain.

Significant experience* in negotiating and building partnerships with Indigenous leaders or organizations, or provincial/territorial/federal governments.

Experience in the management of human** and financial***resources.

Definitions:

*Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various related activities which are normally acquired over a period over at least two (2) years.

**Managing human resources may include: supervision of staff; establishing vision, priorities, work plans or establishing performance objectives; conducting performance assessments and feedback; approving training. Applicants must also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.

***Managing financial resources may include: full delegation and being responsible for financial planning, budget allocation, resource management, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.

Education (Asset):

Graduation with a post-graduate degree from recognized post-secondary institution.

Note: A post-graduate degree is defined as a master or doctorate level degree as established by educational authorities.

Experience in developing and managing Grants & Contributions programs and related interactions with recipient organizations.

Experience in developing and implementing evidence based policy and program solutions in the fields of public health or primary health care.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

Various assessment tools or sources of information may be used in this selection process, such as: standardized tests, interviews, performance agreements, references, etc.

Please note that achieving a pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a cut-off mark that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process.

VERIFICATION OF REFERENCE
