Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff an indeterminate position in Toronto, Ontario.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process which may be used to staff similar positions within Environment and Climate Change with various tenures (e.g. indeterminate, specified period, deployment, assignment), with various language requirements and profiles and conditions of employment.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural sciences, including atmospheric chemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or a field related to the duties of the position.

Productivity or recognition includes developmental work leading to the issue of patents, copyrights and/or recognition by the professional community of the research environment. It also refers to recognized achievement in the form of authorship and editorship of published or unpublished reports, books, papers, or other communications resulting from: Research or experimental development; scientific analysis; planning, analysis and evaluation of Canadian and foreign programs in research and development.

Degree equivalency

Experience conducting original research of atmospheric chemistry processes.

Experience with instrumentation or analytical methods applicable to atmospheric chemistry and analysis of the associated data.

Experience undertaking scientific field or laboratory measurement projects.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience making atmospheric pollutant measurements from aircraft or other mobile measurement platforms.

Experience developing advanced analysis software for the analysis of atmospheric pollutant data.

Experience in research of atmospheric chemistry processes involving trace volatile organic compound gases.

Experience with analytical method development and process studies on persistent organic pollutants and other semi-volatile pollutants in air.
