The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the Queen's Privy Council. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB enjoys a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.
The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
The intent of this process is to establish a pool of partially assessed candidates. Similar positions may be staffed through this process with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements and security requirements.

Education:
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university
Professional Certification:
- Health and safety professional certification or designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional and/or equivalent.
Experience:
- Recent and significant* experience in providing advice and guidance to management and staff with respect to the application and interpretation of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, policies and guidelines.
- Recent and significant* experience in leading and coordinating the development and implementation of an occupational health and safety program in an operational or technical environment (i.e. industrial work sites, laboratories and/or other highly hazardous environment).
- Experience managing a respiratory protection program
- Experience conducting worksite hazard assessments
- Experience in managing projects.
*Recent and significant is defined as a minimum of at least 2 years of experience in the last 7 years.
Note: Experience limited to OHS committee membership is not sufficient.

- Successful completion of post-secondary education in the field of occupational health and safety.
Experience:
- Experience conducting audits and management reviews in the areas of occupational health and safety.
- Experience administering a respiratory protection program in accordance with CSA standard
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
- Membership in one of the following designated groups: women, aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities and visible minorities.
Reliability Status security clearance - 1. Meet the Occupational Health Assessment (Periodic III)
2. Possess a valid driver’s license in Canada.
3. Agree to deploy to accident sites where there may be exposure to disagreable and difficult working conditions and to extreme climatic conditions
4. Agree to respond and travel on short notice during and after normal working and on statutory holidays.
5. Agree to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
6. Willingness to undergo TSB required training
