Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of the natural or physical sciences, engineering, geology, earth or forest sciences.
Productivity/Recognition:
Productivity or recognition includes developmental work leading to the issue of patents, copyrights, or the creation of improved varieties, functions, or designs, and/or recognition by the professional community of the research environment. It also refers to recognized achievement in the form of authorship and editorship of published or unpublished reports, books, papers, or other communications resulting from:
• Research, experimental development, or tasking associated with operational equipment and problems;
• Operational research and scientific analysis;
• Planning, analysis and evaluation of Canadian and foreign programs in research and development
Experience designing or leading research studies
Experience conducting field studies (e.g., field surveys, sampling, environmental monitoring) and laboratory experiments directly related to any of: Physical, chemical, biological or fertility properties of forest soils, forest site productivity, forest soil carbon and nutrient cycling, above- and below-ground forest biomass, forest harvesting, silviculture or integrated resource management practices
Experience working with R, SAS, MatLab, Python or similar analytical packages
Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals

Knowledge of forest soils (e.g., pedology, edaphology, classification and mapping systems, sampling, analyses, methodologies and techniques)
Knowledge of forest or wood fibre management practices (e.g., harvesting systems, forest biomass, bio-products), forest site productivity, forest site rehabilitation or ecological restoration within forest ecosystems
Knowledge of forest soils in relation to climate change mitigation (e.g., greenhouse gases, carbon sequestration) and operational implications for forest management
Knowledge of risk assessment and management principles
Prepare research proposals
Manage research projects
Communicate effectively in English orally
Communicate effectively in English writing
Prepare and deliver presentations
