EDUCATION:

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
- A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement for the FB Group only:
a. Those who were converted on an indeterminate basis to a Border Services (FB) position; or
b. Those who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis to a Border Services (FB) position and have already attained a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
c. Those who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis to a Border Services (FB) position using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Significant* and recent** experience analyzing and summarizing information in writing.
- Significant* and recent** experience writing documentation such as reports, presentations or correspondence.
- Significant* and recent** experience conducting verifications or research in a high-pressure environment.

*Significant experience will be assessed based on the scope, complexity and diversity of the work performed, as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated during the execution of the tasks.
**Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience working for the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) or the Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), or the Immigration Refugee Board (IRB).
- Experience working as a Student Border Services Officer, for the CBSA, in the context of the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP).
- Experience working for the Royal Mounted Canadian Police (RCMP), a provincial or local police force.
- Experience working with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations.
- Experience working with immigration, customs or police enforcement systems.
- Experience working with file or case tracking systems.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Be willing and accept to work overtime on short notice.

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.

LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS: It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Departmental contact of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. One (1) alternate date will be possible only if requested for the following reasons: 1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate 2) Death in your immediate family 3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans or training plans (made before the advertisement posting date) 4) Religious reasons or 5) Participation in an assessment for another selection process.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.
