The intent of this process is to fill one (1) BI-03 position indeterminately in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, assignment, secondment, acting appointment and acting extensions) and/or security requirements (reliability or secret) within Environment and Climate Change Canada.

ED1. Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in environmental, conservation, biological or zoological sciences or some other environmental field relevant to the duties of the position.
EX1. Recent* and significant** experience leading, planning, or managing programs, projects or initiatives for the conservation of migratory birds.
EX2. Recent* and significant** experience analyzing, interpreting and communicating information on conservation issues related to ecosystems or species.
EX3. Recent* and significant** experience leading or participating on multi-jurisdictional or multi-disciplinary teams or partnerships focused on wildlife conservation initiatives.
EX4. Recent* and significant** experience applying ecological knowledge to wildlife conservation projects, particularly regarding migratory birds.
* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of experience that would normally have been gained performing the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years. If experience cited was acquired within a degree program, applicant must demonstrate autonomy of actions and decisions.
AEX1. Experience planning and implementing field-based programs related to conservation of migratory birds.
AEX2. Experience writing and publishing scientific papers or technical documents, and presenting results at scientific forums.
AEX3. Experience supervising staff in field and office-based environments.

K1. Knowledge of biology and ecology as they apply to the conservation of migratory birds, particularly waterfowl and their habitats.
K2. Knowledge of legislation and programs relating to the conservation and management of migratory birds.
K3. Knowledge of the role of other wildlife agencies, non-government organizations, and Indigenous governments in the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats in prairie and northern Canada.
K4. Knowledge of experimental design, survey design and sampling methods related to monitoring of birds.
