Duties

The Managing Director, Communications and Consultations plans and oversees the effective and efficient delivery of a comprehensive and strategic communications program for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) to enable the effective delivery of OSFI's key messages to stakeholders ensuring that intended messages are heard and reinforced as appropriate.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative CBC/CBC on an indeterminate basis. The position is currently located in Ottawa, however we encourage all interested candidates to apply regardless of their preferred location of work (either Ottawa or Toronto).

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of partially qualified and/or qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar positions at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

- Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing a comprehensive and strategic communications program** to advance an organization’s mandate.
- Experience in providing strategic advice to senior executives*** on complex and sensitive communications issues.
- Executive level experience as a collaborative and hands-on leader managing change in an evolving work environment.
- Experience at the executive level in managing financial resources and managing human resources that entails building, mentoring, and coaching a diverse team of professionals.

**Program includes: multi-media; internal/external communications; media relations; public affairs and/or parliamentary affairs.
*** Senior executives include: Minister, Deputy/Associate Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister, C-Suite level executive, Senior Vice President.

ASSET EDUCATION
- University degree with a specialization in communications, public affairs, economics or journalism.

- Experience in government strategic communications.
- Experience in managing major public consultations or engagement processes.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
