The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General (OSGG) is a small department part of the Core Public Administration (CPA).

This position is perfect for a resourceful Labour Relations Advisor who would like to work in a dynamic environment surrounded by seasoned professionals.

This position will allow you to work on a wide variety of operational and corporate labour relations issues, as well as other human resources disciplines such as disability management, performance management, workplace wellness, awards and recognition, exclusions and political activities.

Intent of the process

To staff one (1) indeterminate position. A pool of qualified candidates resulting from this process may be created. The pool will be valid for 12 months with a possibility of extension.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labor or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

NOTE: Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the PE group on October 1, 1999, who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

- Five years of experience in a labour relations role.

- Five years of experience in providing advice and recommendations to management on complex labour relations issues.

- Experience in interpreting collective agreements, policies, and terms and conditions of employment.

- Experience in working with union representatives to resolve issues.

8. INFORMATION TO BE PROVIDED:

10. Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent may be considered for a deployment before all the other candidates. However, if no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in this advertised appointment process.

11. TRAVEL RELATED TO THE SELECTION OR APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Please note that candidates (including employees of the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for their travel costs.

12. RELOCATION EXPENSES
Candidates from outside the federal public service may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.

13. Top-down selection may be applied; a cut-off score may be established after all scores are received. Random selection may be used at any time during the process to identify which applicants will be further assessed.

14. A security check will be administered and proof of citizenship, education, and at least 2 work references with names and applicable phone numbers will be required. Security Check will include a credit check and fingerprinting. Successful candidate(s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.
