What responsibilities will you take on?
As a Hearings Coordinator, you will report to the Director, Court Operations of the Tax Court of Canada, the key activities and responsibilities of the position are:
- Provide client service such as litigation support, appeal scheduling and compliance services for informal and general appeals and applications before the Tax Court of Canada.
- Provide guidance and support on procedural and administrative requirements to the general public, professionals, lawyers and the Justices of the Tax Court of Canada.
- Manage the scheduling and adjournments of appeals and applications before the Tax Court of Canada.
- Develop responses to enquiries regarding general and specific appeal cases before the Tax Court of Canada.
A pool of partially qualified or fully qualified candidates will be established in order to staff similar positions with different tenures (acting, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, secondment, specified period) and various bilingual linguistic profiles within the Courts Administration Service.

Successful completion of two (2) years post-secondary* education OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position**.
Definitions:
* Post-secondary education means years of education following high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V).
** Acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position is defined as a high school graduation (grade 12 or Secondary V) and approximately three (3) years of work experience in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment***.
*** Judicial or quasi-judicial environment means a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).
Significant* experience in writing correspondence and summaries required in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment**.
Significant* experience in the interpretation of legislation in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment**.
Significant* experience in the application of rules of procedure in a judicial or quasi-judicial environment**.
Definitions:
* Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task.
** Judicial or quasi-judicial environment means a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization relevant to the position (Law, Public or Business Administration or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed).
Experience in liaising with the judiciary *, lawyers and the public.
Experience working as a Hearing Coordinator or similar position in a Federal Board, Commission, Tribunal or Court (Federal, Provincial or Municipal).
Experience working in the Registry in a Federal Court such as the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada or the Tax Court of Canada.
Definition:
* Judiciary means judges, deputy judges or prothonotaries.
