Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this selection process is to fill one (1) indeterminate position in Gatineau, Quebec.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC). The pool can be used to staff positions with different tenures, various bilingual language requirements and security requirements in the National Capital Region.

EXPERIENCE

EX1: Significant experience* in writing a wide range of communications products in a government department or agency, or a large** private sector or non-governmental organization. Communications products include (but are not limited to) news releases, media lines/responses, articles for a corporate newsletter, web content, social media products, promotional material, speeches and speaking notes.

EX2: Experience providing communications advice and services to a client group or component of an organization in support of communications initiatives, multimedia, social media or outreach activities.

EX3: Experience in developing and implementing communications plans or strategies.

* Significant experience is defined by the depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing a broad range of related activities which are normally acquired over a period of three (3) years. The amount, the complexity and the diversity of activities, as well as the autonomy level will also be taken into consideration.
**Large private sector or non-governmental organization is defined as an organization with a minimum of 50 employees or a communications/public relations firm with a broad client base.

ASSET EDUCATION

A bachelor or higher level degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in communications, public relations, marketing or in a field related to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE

AE1 - Experience in supporting the delivery of communications services to engage a broad client base including stakeholders, external clients or the public.
AE2 - Experience in delivering communications services in support of internal communications at a corporate level.
AE3 - Experience in media relations.
AE4 - Experience in developing content and material for a government department or organization’s social media platforms.
AE5 - Experience in developing user-centric web content, including writing, editing or organizing new and existing content.
AE6 - Experience in planning and organizing departmental/corporate events or outreach activities.
AE7 - Experience in the full-time performance of communications advisor functions for at least a period of one (1) year within the Government of Canada (departments, agencies or crown corporations).

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
