Duties

Analyze data, statistics, plans and procedures, as part of emergency management for marine spills.

Participate in contingency planning work for marine spills, for the Central and Arctic Region of the Canadian Coast Guard.

Support environmental response teams in Emergency preparedness work.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates will be created following this selection process in the intention of filling permanent and temporary positions in Québec city. This pool could also be used to fill similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans Canada, which includes the Canadian Coast Guard.

High school diploma or acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position

Degree equivalency

Experience building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with various partners (e.g. representatives for federal/provincial/territorial/municipal governments, representatives for non-government bodies such as Aboriginal and community groups, as well as industry representatives, technical experts, etc.);
Experience in collecting, analyzing and consolidating data and documentation;
Experience in preparing reports, minutes and/or plans;
Experience in providing advice and recommendations to management.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a field of studies relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in working collaboratively with marine industry representatives and/or with members of federal departments and other government agencies working for environmental protection, such as the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the Canadian Coast Guard, Transport Canada, Environment Canada, and Quebec's Ministère du développement durable, de l’environnement et de la lutte contre les changements climatiques;
Experience in using mapping software and managing cartographic databases;
Experience in evaluating and/or using methods of intervention following an oil spill.
