The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers, offering over 70 different types of civilian career opportunities. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team. This process will be used to staff two indeterminate (permanent) position, an AS-04 position and an AS-05 position in Valcartier (Québec). Meanwhile, a pool of candidates will be established and may be used to staff positions for determinate (casual) periods and / or indeterminate (permanent). This pool could be used to fill similar positions within the Department of National Defense in Quebec area with various language proficiencies and security profiles.

EDUCATION:
Certificate in Health and Safety from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience in a field related to health and safety at work.
EXPERIENCE :
Common criteria (AS-04, AS-05)
1. Recent experience* in the administration of a workplace health and safety program or industrial hygiene;
2. Recent experience* providing management advice in the field of Occupational Health and Safety or industrial hygiene;
3. Recent experience* in conducting audits, inspections or assessments health and safety or industrial hygiene;
Criteria (AS-05)
4. Recent experience* managing personnel.
5. Recent experience* in financial management.
* A "recent experience" is defined as experience gained within the last five (5) years.
EXPERIENCE:
Common Criteria (AS-04, AS-05)
Experience in ergonomics.
Criteria (AS-04)
Experience in conducting audits, inspections and assessments of health and safety at work at DND.
Experience in management of the DND civilian Employee Return to work program.
Criteria (AS-05)
Experience in industrial hygiene.
Experience in detailed planning or detailed administration of a health and safety program at work.
Experience in identifying training needs and planning and organizing training sessions for health and safety at work.
Experience of at least one year in the supervision of staff in the last five years (including the establishment of performance agreements and performance evaluations).
Experience in managing a budget.
Experience in conducting health and safety investigation.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual may be required to work through exercises and military operations.
• Security/Reliability: Various security levels including: reliability or secret.
• Be able to work in different physical environments such as uneven areas, confined and high up spaces.
• Accept to move about in austere conditions.
• The individual must be available to perform work outside of regular working hours.
• Hold a valid driver’s licence (class 5).
• Able to travel within the territory of 2 CA Div.
• Willingness to work with pieces of personal protective equipment such as masks, gloves, etc.
