Work environment

The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General (OSGG) is the government agency that supports the governor general throughout his or her mandate and in carrying out his or her duties. Most employees work at Rideau Hall at 1 Sussex Drive in Ottawa.

Rideau Hall is the official residence and workplace of the governor general of Canada. It is also a historic site with 180 years of history and a green oasis located just minutes from downtown. The site is open to the public and welcomes more than 300 000 visitors each year who come to take part in the various activities offered.

The Visitor Services and Exhibitions team oversees and implements several public programs and offers visitors a warm welcome and memorable experience. The team assistant provides front-line services at the helm of the information and reservations desk. We are therefore looking for someone interested in offering personalized, high-quality customer service and working as part of a small, bilingual, multidisciplinary team.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position indeterminately. A pool of qualified candidates might be established and may be used to staff similar, term and/or indeterminate positions, acting, or assignments/secondments situations with various tenures, linguistic profiles and security levels within the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General in Ottawa.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of a high school degree.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in dealing with the public.
- Experience in operating a computerized reservation / appointment system.
- Experience in the provision of administrative support services (for instance writing correspondence and preparing reports).
- Experience with Excel and PowerPoint software.

Security Check will include a credit check and fingerprinting. Successful candidate(s) must meet and maintain the Conditions of Employment throughout their employment.

Top-down selection may be applied; a cut-off score may be established after all scores are received. Random selection may be used at any time during the process to identify which applicants will be further assessed.
