This process will be used to staff one or many indeterminate positions. A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created for similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting), at Health Canada, across Canada. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

EDUCATION:
ED1-Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed*.
Notes:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2.It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3.At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
*A candidate who does not meet the minimum education requirement must demonstrate at least 2 years of IT-related experience for each year of post-secondary studies in IM/IT that the candidate does not have. (As illustration, a candidate that has completed high school would require 4-year’s work experience.)
EXPERIENCE:
EX1-One year of *experience working as an IT analyst or similar position in at least one of the following areas:
· IT Security
· PKI Administration
· Compliance and Risk Management
· Desktop Support
· Accounts Provisioning/Directory services
· Asset/Warehouse Management

*Experience is defined as being approximately one (1) year of experience in the last five (5) years and can usually be demonstrated through working in an IT related activity such as volunteer work, student employment or scholastic activity or achievement.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
ASSET-EDUCATION:
AED1-Graduation with a university degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Information Management (IM) or a related IT field.
