The Food Industry Division at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is seeking a highly motivated employee to be part of a team that supports a competitive, innovative and sustainable agri-food industry in Canada. The successful candidate will report to a Deputy Director and be relied upon to provide timely and credible analysis and advice to government and industry to enhance policy, regulatory and economic development.
Example activities would include (but are not limited to):
• Facilitating industry adaptation to regulatory modernization;
• Collaborating with other government departments and agencies to advance policies and regulations that can accommodate innovation and global competitiveness;
• Engaging directly with the food processing industry to identify, analyze and support the resolution of issues impacting industry innovation and competitiveness; and
• Reviewing federal and provincial funding proposals related to the agri-food processing sector.

The immediate need is to staff 1 full time position on a temporary basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar permanent and temporary employment.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of study relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., business, economics, nutrition, food science, etc.).
Experience synthesizing information and preparing written briefing documents (i.e., correspondence, briefing notes, QP notes), and presentation decks.
Experience researching and analyzing issues and developing options and recommendations for resolution.
Experience developing and sustaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, academia and non-governmental organizations.
Asset Qualifications
Post graduate certificate or master’s degree in a relevant field of study from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Asset Qualifications
Experience managing technical, scientific or regulatory issues.
Experience working in the food processing industry in Canada.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
